Introduction

Mat Logbook is a BJJ student grading logbook designed for coaches and academy teams. It is built with a privacy-first, local-first approach. Your coaching data stays on your device and is under your control.

This policy explains what data Mat Logbook stores, where it is stored, and what permissions the app may request.

What data is stored

Mat Logbook stores the following information locally on your device:

• Student profiles — name, program (BJJ Adults or BJJ Kids), and optional photo
• Grading events — belt, stripes, date, and optional note for each grading
• Coaching notes — private text notes linked to individual students
• App preferences — such as your selected theme (light, dark, or automatic)

Where data is stored

All data is stored locally on your device. Mat Logbook does not require an account, login, or cloud service to function. Your records are not uploaded to any server as part of normal use.

What is not collected

Mat Logbook does not collect or transmit:

• Personal analytics or behavioural tracking data
• Location or GPS data
• Advertising identifiers
• Browsing or usage history outside the app

Permissions

Mat Logbook may request the following device permissions. All permissions are optional and are not required for core functionality:

• Camera — Used only to take a photo for a student profile, if you choose to add one.
• Photo library — Used only to select an existing photo for a student profile.

If you decline these permissions, the app will continue to work. You simply will not be able to attach photos to student profiles.

Data sharing

Mat Logbook does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. No cloud sharing or syncing is required for the app to function.
